Curious Palette

The guys behind Stranger Reunion has opened a new cafe along Princep Street and I decided to bring my sis to try it! The cafe is quite hidden and might be easily missed as currently there's only one small blackboard lying on a chair outside of the cafe as their signboard..lol! We went on a Saturday afternoon and with no surprise the cafe was fully packed. We waited for around 15 mins to get seated.

Being a sweet potato fries lover, I can't resist myself to order the truffle sweet potato fries for our sides..hehe! Sweet potato fries already sounds amazing itself, but with truffle? Of course must order hahaha! However, we can't really taste the truffle in the fries. For our mains, we ordered a Curious Breakfast and a portobello mushroom with scrambled egg (can't rmb the exact name..lol) to share. I must say that the presentation of the food at Curious Palette was really pretty and instagram-worthy! For the mains, i thought it was pretty average, nothing to shout about.

Here's come the highlight of our meal - Berries Ricotta Hotcake!! I was telling my sis that we must order this for our dessert and i din expect the portion to be this big?? I almost got a shock when it was served...lol! The hotcake was decorated with strawberries, blueberries, sunflower seeds and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, it was indeed the prettiest hotcake i have ever seen..haha! The hotcake was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside though it was pretty thick. We couldn't finish the hotcake because we were too full from the other dishes #alwaysoverordering I think it would be good to share among 4-5 friends as the serving size was really bigg! Overall a pleasant brunch with my two sisters, would love to be back to try for their dinner menu since the place is quite near to where i stay..hehe!

Sea & Saw by The Roost (Revisit)

*Watch in HD ;)

Revisit Sea & Saw with Joanne couple weeks ago for early dinner because I wanted to try the other items on their menu (the food i had during my 1st visit was not satisfying :x). We reached there around 5 plus and the place was already filled with patrons but lucky us got seated in less than 5 mins..hehe! We ordered a katsuoboshi fries, soy balsamic whole chicken leg and a beef mushroom charcoal burger to share. For the drinks, I ordered a mint mocha but I think they got my order wrong (?) because I can't taste any mint flavor at all..lol! Joanne ordered a honey latte and i thought it was not bad! The food was served pretty fast this time round and I love the mains that we ordered! I have tried both their fries on the menu and I think i still prefer the truffle fries..haha! The beef mushroom burger is the bomb! Love how savory and juicy the patty is..yum yum!! Dessert is a must for us, in fact we went 2 rounds of dessert afterwards hahaha! Anyway we ordered a matcha pie for our dessert and it was really yummy!

More visuals on my 1st visit here :)

Sea & Saw by The Roost

"Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come"-Sea & Saw
Sea & Saw has became the latest hit in JB cafe hopping i guess, lots of pictures and check in of this place are on facebook and instagram! The person behind Sea & Saw is the founder and friends of Roost Cafe and Roost Repurposed & Recycled (RRR) in Johor Bahru. It's situated on top of a hill by the seaside and its entrance/turning in can be easily missed imo..so you might want to slow down after passing the M Suites Hotel..lol! The cafe is made up of wood and steel furniture where they infused horticulture with cafe culture, everywhere is decorated beautifully and of course 'instagrammable'..lol!

Their choice of food is quite limited but I thought it's pretty standard and sufficient. We didn't know they only open at 3pm so we waited quite some time after we ordered. We ordered a truffle fries, squid ink spaghetti and a seared salmon & poached egg to share. Truffle fries came pretty fast but our mains were served after we waited for 45 mins?! We weren't quite pleased with the food that day especially the seared salmon..the presentation was quite bad and the salmon was dry and bland..sigh! But the food I ordered on my 3rd visit was really yummy..please refer here..haha!!

As usual, we took LOTS of pictures after we were done with the food...hahaha! This was my first time cafe hopping with Shering in JB and thanks for recommending this place! I LOVE IT!!

#22 Selectively Social

Came across this article on Thought Catalog and I have to admit that most of the points below describe me very well..so true i couldn't agree more! Have a read! :)

16 Ways To Identify Someone Who Is “Selectively Social” - Tenzin Woesel
1. You are very frank and loud at home or when you are with your friends but you turn into a timid shy ball when you are with people you hardly know.

2. You are the entertainer in your friends circle but you hate it when your friends expect you to entertain in front of a crowd of strangers.

3. You are very close to just one or two friends among your friends circle. With the rest of the friends in your circle, you are comfortable being you but you are not too close.

4. There’s an uncertainty when you agree to keep in touch with people. There are days when you want to talk to people yet there are days when you don’t want to talk to anyone.

5. When your friends ask you to join them for an outing, the first thing you ask is; “Who all are going?” and the answer is always, always a BIG influence on your decision.

6. You try your best to avoid having a conversation with people and hence, you stay away as far as you can from your next door neighbor, class mates, colleagues and friends of friends.

7. You enjoy being alone rather than hanging out with a bunch of people… but you become one of them if you join.

8. You hate it when people comment on how boring you and your life are. When others plan for a freaking weekend partying, shopping and movies, all you look forward to is, a stay-at-home weekend, doing nothing much, but just relax, read a book, write articles and dance to the blaring music with your pajamas on.

9. You cannot forgive yourself for inviting people to your home. Most of the time, you care the least about modesties but sometimes, “You can visit my place when you want to” slips off your mouth and all you do is, regret. Just regret. You will then think of every possible excuse to give when they say they are visiting you.

10. You hate it when your girlfriend or boyfriend has an out-going personality and you always get tagged ‘my lifeless girlfriend/boyfriend’. And if you are a single like me, your dream partner is not somebody who gets annoyed when you make no plans for hangouts and movies but somebody who loves staying at home spending quality time with you.

11. You love being around people you are close with but most of the time you cherish solitude. It’s not that you never want to be with people but at the same time it’s not that you want to stay alone always. Nobody can or will ever understand your behavior just as you yourself cannot.

12. You can stay mysteriously unplugged for weeks on end. There are days you talk to people a lot and there are days when you don’t even respond to their text messages and calls.

13. You fear getting close to people. Sometimes you get along with a person very well but there comes a point where you think you are getting close to that somebody and you disconnect immediately for a long time. Getting attached to people isn’t your cup of tea.

14. You fancy the idea of partying with people but you don’t want to go to parties even if all the friends in your circle are going. You hate to turn down an invitation because you don’t want to upset people but your solitude weighs more than that for you.

15. There’s nothing more annoying than having an out-going person as your company. They can get on your nerves, talk to you about topics you least care and will persuade you to accompany them out on days you want to stay at home doing nothing. They will keep you waiting on the way while they talk to everyone they meet. Just because they smile and talk to everyone, you are seen crystal clear as ‘the contrast’.

16. To those people who don’t know you; you are and will remain that ‘grumpy, rude and anti-social person’ which in reality we aren’t.
