The Lokal

*please watch in HD :)

I have read too many good reviews about The Lokal  but I don't understand why I took so long to finally visit this cafe..haha! It's located at a corner shophouse along Neil Road. The Lokal  is the sister outlet of Sarnies and its decor and ambiance will give you the Aussie feel, remind me of the cafes that I visited during my Melbourne trip! We visited on a public holiday afternoon and a mini queue was already formed inside the cafe. I think we got our table after a 15-20 minutes wait which was not too bad actually! And we got the window seats which means i got good lighting to take pictures! :p

We were so famished by that time but we just couldn't decide which item to order because everything just look so promising..lol! We ordered a roasted beef ciabatta and a smoked salmon egg royale to share. For the drinks, sf had the hot chocolate because she said she just had coffee this morning before meeting me? LOL! I'm not really a coffee person so I always opt for mocha..hehe! Our food came pretty fast and omg i can totally understand what's the hype about this cafe just by trying both dishes that we ordered!  I personally adored the egg royale more! That delicious slab of smoked salmon was done to perfection and this was coming from a person (aka me) who don't really fancy salmon (except raw salmon)! The egg yolk flows out perfectly as well..just watch the video and you will know what I meant..haha! Being a bread lover, I absolutely enjoy the beef ciabatta which is the perfect combination of sliced sauteed beef and caramelized onions (insert heart eyes emoji)!

I still remember it was super hazy that day (PSI hit around 300+!!) but it was nonetheless a well spent afternoon with lots of catch up and updates with sf! Overall, The Lokal  definitely lives up to its hype and it certainly deserves a return visit anytime!

Togi BBQ

Wanjun and me were craving for korean food last week so we decided to check out Togi BBQ at Tripleone Somerset! We had our dinner quite late because we went to shop before dinner despite our growling stomach hahahaha!! There's so much sales going on ok so we (or maybe just me) couldn't control ourselves (myself :p). Anyway, we reached Togi BBQ about 8.30pm and we queued for about 20 mins to get a table. We ordered right after we got seated because we were famished and have already decided what to get when we were queuing hehe! 6 different types of complementary banchan (side dishes) was served with a single serving of porridge before our food came. The banchan were all so yummy especially the kimchi and anchovies!

Spot the little cute drinks! We ordered the pear juice and peach juice and both are so nice and refreshing. As for the food, we ordered a spicy pork belly ($19), spicy stir-fried rice cake with ramen ($13) and a gravy sliced beef soup with glass noodle ($16) to share. Can i say i love everything hahaha especially the beef soup! I was like omg so tasty and can't stop drinking it..haha! Heard that their stew is nice too so there's an excuse to go back again..hehe!

Café & Bar Gavroche

This cafe is truly a hidden gem at Tanjong Pagar. I have no idea of the existence of this Parisian ambiance cafe tucked in Tras Street if not for my trusty foodie friend's recommendation who found it through Burple LOL! I fell in love with the decor the moment we stepped into Cafe Gavroche. The cafe is divided into 3 sections: the Bar area which has a 4.2m wooden bar originating from Normandy, the Indoor Terrace section which is a natural light filled space with cobblestone flooring, fringed with an indoor tree and lastly the Dining area that look like a traditional kitchen cum dining area with a long rustic wooden table. The seating were quite limited but we were lucky to get a table in the Terrace which I absolutely love because natural light is the best for photo taking..hahahaha!!

Their breakfast/brunch menu offers a wide range of traditional french food from eggs (done in several ways), sandwiches, open face bread, croissant, charcuterie, cheese platters and desserts, mostly bread i will say..lol! Not complaining though because i love bread hehehe! We have heard good reviews about their open face bread and also the croque madame so we decided to order both to share. And the greedy us also order a croissant and pain au chocolat to start with. The croissant is not bad but i think i had better one before. OK the scrambled egg tartine which is a french style open-face country bread that serve with soft and runny scrambled egg sitting on a bed of caramelized onions is the bomb!! It taste so A M A Z I N G omg every bite is love, simple dish yet so enticing!! Highly recommended!! The croque madame which consists of ham and cheese within two slices of soft and fluffy thick bread and topped with sunny side up was really yummy too!

Overall a very satisfying brunch at Cafe Gavroche and I love that this cafe is not too overcrowded which allow us to enjoy the delicious food in such pretty and Parisian ambiance. Do note that their brunch menu is only available on weekends from 10.30am-2.30pm. Will definitely go back to try the other items on their menu! :D
