Malacca - Sin See Tai

The Daily Fix Cafe, known as the most popular cafe in Malacca has opened a new sister cafe - Sin See Tai 新时代 which means new generation or new era in Hokkien. It's a tiny cafe with only 16 seats available and it offers a smaller menu here. The place is decorated with plenty of greenery and wooden furnitures.

We ordered a baked egg and avocado bacon toast to share, food was pretty ok. The waffle and popsicle seems like a popular dish here but we didn't order it this time as we wanted to have dessert somewhere else, what a miss..lol! Anyway, the menu here is quite different from The Daily Fix Cafe, healthier choices are available here such as quinoa salad, chia seed pudding and home baked granola. Definitely a place to checkout if you are visiting Malacca.

The Daily Fix Cafe

Ok, I really need to update my blog on a weekly basis..i hope..haha!! I've got so many cafes to share and not forgetting my taiwan and bkk travelogue..lol! This is a way overdue post! I can't remember when was it..hahah! Anyway, Shen Sim brought us to this 'hidden' cafe along Jonker Street during our last visit to Melaka. The reason why I said it's hidden because it's situated at the back of a souvenir shop. Every corner of this cafe is so photogenic and I love how they sticked the antique kaleidoscopic plates on the wall which create a really pretty backdrop and of course you will see tons of picture of this wall on instagram..haha!! As usual, I ordered matcha latte for my drinks (i always order this if it's available on the menu!). It was not bad but kinda lack of the taste, wish the matcha taste can be stronger. But i can make do with the adorable latte art! ;p I think we were all quite hungry at that time..there's onion rings, cereals, 2 egg benedicts and french toast on the table XD All the food was fabulous especially the french toast! AND i only found out that we didn't order their popular pandan gula melaka pancake! Ok..it's time to go back again...haha!

2D1N Melaka

Can't remember when was the last time I went to Melaka, probably 3-4 years ago. I've been craving for the nyonya dishes and the super famous satay celup for too long so we decided to go Melaka for a short getaway..hehe! We reached Melaka around evening time and the first stop we headed to was Restaurant Tong Sheng. Thanks to the courtesy of Shen Sim's friend, who lives in Melaka and help us make the reservation beforehand, we got seated immediately when we reached~ yeah! The restaurant was so crowded so it's better to make reservation beforehand! We ordered a cheese prawn meehun, fresh milk crab, fried fresh squid with garlic and a vege. The 2 must order items have got to be the cheese prawn meehun and fresh milk crab! You might think it's kind of weird by putting cheese and meehun together but trust me it doesn't taste weird at all!! The meehun was soaked in a delicious sauce where the cheese is melted into the gravy. The prawn was very fresh and well cooked too! The signature fresh milk crab did not disappoint too! I love how unique the taste is, but I can't really describe how does it taste hahaha wth! They use fresh milk instead of condensed milk to cook the crab and it has a slight sour taste which make the dish more appetizing. The dish comes with a plate of toasted bread for you to dip the delicious sauce, a very good alternative for fried mantou!

Went to Jonker walk after the satisfying dinner to digest the food and..yes we went for supper at Ban Li Xiang Satay Celup..hahaha what! The queue at Capitol was insane so we settled at this place instead. Shen Sim's friend who is a Malacan told us that they taste pretty much the same and Ban Li Xiang is much cheaper than Capitol. It was my first attempt on satay celup and i must say that i like the sweet and slightly spicy satay sauce a lot! Too bad we were too full from the dinner so we only took a few sticks to try.

Day 2 lunch was at Restaurant Aunty Lee which serves authentic nyonya food. We ordered 5 items to share which are Ayam Pong Teh, Beef Rendang, Cincalok Omelette, Bendih Ulam (okra topped with cincalok sambal mix) and Chap Chai to share. Everything was so amazing including the lady finger that I don't usually take! The chendol was really good too! Walked over to the Melaka Guan Yin Tong temple to offer prayer and also capture some visuals there. Went back to JB after visiting Mods Cafe which I will blog about it pretty soon..hehe!
