TIP, The Ice-cream Project

"You can't buy happiness. But you can buy ice cream and that's about the same thing."

I have heard about this ice cream parlor for quite some time and finally had the chance to try it on last weekend~ Drove there after our dinner at home and i have to say that GPS did a great help in finding this place, lol! The highlight of this ice cream parlor is the ice cream they make on the spot using liquid nitrogen after you place your order, and you can see how your ice cream is made using the cool machine..haha!

It's a self-serve cafe so you have to make your order at the counter and collect it when it's ready, just like how you order your drinks at Starbucks, lol! We ordered the dark chocolate and brownies & cream (RM14 each) to share and oh my both flavours are equally awesome!! The ice cream is so smooth and creamery, and not too sweet to our liking! One thing that I like about the ice cream is that it doesn't melt too fast considering that we spent quite a while to take pictures with it..haha! The ice cream is really up to expectation and i personally thought that it's the best ice cream in town so far, definitely going back for more!

Bakudan Korokke - Homemade Potato Croquette ($8.90) MUST TRY!!!!!

Tamagoyaki with Mentai Cheese ($8.90)

Yaki Gyoza - Pan Fried Dumpling with Citrus Based Sauce ($6.90)

Cheese Tsukune- chicken meatball with cheese ($4.90) just look at the shiny yellow cheeseeeee :p

Yari  Ika Teriyaki - Grilled Seasoned Squid with Sweet Sauce ($8.90)

I can't believe it took me so long to visit this place despite how near it is from where I stay. To be honest, I have walked past it so many times but I never really take notice of this place till I read some good reviews online #powerofinternet It's located outside of Bugis Junction, beside Fish n Co., at the less crowded end so I guess not many people know about this place. This place is truly a hidden gem and i'm really glad we decided to try this out on last Fri night..hehe!

Sumire is an established  yakitori restaurant in Tokyo with around 15 outlets, serving a wide range of good quality food such as yakitori, agemono, udon, ramen, rice, etc. with affordable price. The price of the food here is surprisingly affordable and I think this is by far the best yakitori that I have ever eaten in sg..haha!

As you can see above, we ordered quite a lot for 2 pax but we just feel like trying everything on the menu. The Bakudan Korokke is the main reason that I want to try sumire..lol! It's a giant potato croquette with a surprise inside! THERE'S AN EGG INSIDE OMG and the egg yolk oozed out when we cut open the potato croquette..omg this has got to be my favorite dish at sumire!! MUST TRY!!! The croquette is crispy at the outside and filled with creamy mashed potato and of course the egg complement the dish perfectly. As a tamago lover, I have to order the tamagoyaki with mentai cheese and it certainly didn't disappoint me, thumbs up~

For the yakitori, we ordered Gyu Kushi with Black Pepper, Enoki Bacon and Cheese Tsukune. My favorite is definitely the Cheese Tsukune! Their tsukune comes in 2 sizes which are 'men' and 'female'. Apparently the 'men' version consists of 2 meatballs with bigger size whereas the 'female' version consists of 3 smaller meatballs. We ordered the 'men' size anyway..lol! And not forgetting the grilled squid which is super affordable in our opinion!!

We ordered a sparkling sake and calamansi whiskey to share and the total bill came to about S$74 with 7 food items and 2 alcoholic drinks. This place definitely serve good quality food with reasonable price and the service is really good too. So glad that Carol was really steady and ok with whatever I suggested to order hahahaha! Awesome dinner with awesome company definitely made my day! :)

The Making of Kakiage

The making of kakiage is really simple and it involves only a few steps. For the ingredients, just cut the vegetables into thin stripes. My mum use carrot and yam for the main ingredient and she added some parsley and dried anchovies to enhance the flavor. For the batter, she use some flour, water, olive oil and egg. Her version of kakiage is quite different from the usual one and basically she just mix everything into a big bowl, lol!  When it comes to the ingredients, my mum has no exact recipe to follow and she just add in whatever she think it's needed and the dish always comes out perfectly. #whatkindofsorceryisthis

I don't take yam, in fact I hate anything with yam in it except those yam dessert like orh nee (teochew yam paste dessert) but I really really love this dish as I can't really taste the yam in it..haha!! Aww..so nice so delicious my sis will cry if she see this :p

Mu Parlour

I did some review online before visiting Mu Parlour and apparently their burger is highly recommended. We ordered a Mu Platter to share, it comes with 2 burgers (any choices), a side of salad, buffalo wings and garlic fries. For the burger, we had No.1 (Beef, Monterey Jack, Streaky Bacon, Gherkin) and No.11 (Beef, Avocado, Streaky Bacon, Mu Secret Sauce). I personally thought that No.11 is a must try and it's way better than No.1..hehe! Must be the avocado and the Mu secret sauce. The beef patty is generously spread with mashed avocado and it just taste heavenly with the melted cheese and their secret sauce..omg!  On a side note, i have become a fan of avocado ever since i came back from Aussie..hahaha! The wings and fries are quite decent as well. Consider the price of the burger is $15+ each, I really think the platter is such a good deal because it comes with 2 sides and it's only priced at $38!!

Mu Parlour is located at 2nd level and we almost missed the entrance because the signboard is a little bit too small imo, lol! The place is not really crowded that night and i love that their tables are not too close to each other so that we can have some privacy while talking with our friends. And also we got to sit by the full glass window which is pretty nice though there isn't any nice view outside, lol!! Overall we had a good time there as the food and service is relatively good, will definitely go back for their dessert next time :)

Espresso Garage

Went a long way to this cafe with my jb cafe-hopping buddy, Shen Sim on a lazy Sunday. We lost our way so it took us almost one hour to reach there from my house, i almost fainted from hunger, lol! This cafe is located at Puteri Harbour and there wasn't much patrons when we visited. Shen Sim ordered a greek salad and i-cant-rmb-whats-the-name-of-her-coffee while I ordered a salami panini and a mocha. The food was quite nice though the portion is quite small, maybe i was just too hungry. Ohh, we ordered a tiramisu to share as well, not the best but quite decent. The food there was quite pricey in my opinion, we spent around RM100 for all the items above. However, the place is really ideal if you want to dine at somewhere quiet or maybe spend some alone time here. My friend told me that it's quite nice for chill out at night also, the boss will occasionally organize some little quiz game and play with the guests and I thought it's pretty cool!
